The Mission of Jesus Christ

The more I think about Jesus Christ and His mission, the more I see that His mission is one that is summed up in the words "I came to seek and to save the lost". His mission was not about raising money for this or that ministry, it wasn't let us build the biggest sanctuary in Galilee, in fact we do not even hear of Christ saying, "I am going to win 10000 souls tomorrow". What did His mission encompass then? His mission in life was to seek out lost sinners and to save them. Arthur Blessitt said once that the vision that God had given him was simply to be Jesus to the next person he comes in contact with.
This is a simple mission statement. For Jesus and His disciples it would mean hardship, persecution, poverty, mis-understanding from families, and even martyrdom. On the other hand it brought great joy and excitement seeing others give their lives over to God. The driving force behind Jesus and His disciples is people. Jesus had a deep love for people. This love went to lengths to search out the lost, like a shepherd searching long and hard for his lost sheep. Someone has said the real difference between all the religions and Christianity is that in Christianity God searches out and pursues humanity with a goal to a relationship with Himself. Oh what love to search out a humanity that has turned their backs to God with hatred and even vengeance.
He not only searches out after people, He saves them by His love, power and His death on the cross. He offered His body as a ransom for us that we might be free from everlasting punishment. If He can save you, then surely He can save others. Sometimes we need to be reminded of God's power in bringing us to Himself. In realizing this, we can know that the message of the Gospel is indeed "the power of God unto salvation". With love and thankfulness to God for what He has done for us it is only natural that we will want others to come to God as well.
To the extent that we know God's love for us and others we in turn will love others and help them into the kingdom of God. Make this your mission in life: "to seek and to save the lost".
